Life Hack Tools explains how NutriShot handles information when estimating nutrition from meal photos and saving meal records. No account registration is required.

01Photo transmission and consent

In the Claude-enabled version, we send one meal photo you take or select through our Firebase analysis service to Anthropic’s Claude API to estimate the dish, weight, protein, fat, carbohydrates and kcal. We ask for consent in the app before sending a photo; declining prevents analysis. Earlier consent for Google is not reused as consent to send photos to Anthropic. Withdraw consent under “AI 解析への同意” in Settings to require consent again before the next analysis. Withdrawal stops future transmission; it does not delete photos already processed by an external service.

02Meal records on your device

When you save a meal, a copy of its photo, dish name, amount, PFC, kcal and time, together with targets, consent status and settings, are stored on your device. We do not provide cloud synchronization of meal history. OS backups depend on your device settings and the OS provider’s terms.

03Analysis service and abuse prevention

Photos pass through our Google Cloud Functions service to Anthropic. We do not store photos or estimates as server-side meal history, or include photos, estimate content, AI thinking content or attestation tokens in our application logs. We log the model name and input, output and cache token counts to monitor costs and usage. The cloud provider may process IP addresses, timestamps and similar connection information in access logs. Firestore stores daily request counts to enforce an allowance, without photos or user IDs. Older versions may send photos to Google Gemini. The Claude-enabled version does not automatically fall back to Google.

04App and device attestation

Versions using Firebase App Check send app/device attestation material to Google or Apple’s attestation services and attach a token to analysis requests to prevent abuse. Firebase retains tokens used for replay protection for at most 30 days. See Firebase privacy information.

05Photo processing by external services

Anthropic states that it does not use commercial API inputs or outputs for model training by default. Retention varies by service, agreement and settings. Its general API policy describes deletion within 30 days under standard conditions, with exceptions including legal requirements and abuse prevention. We do not guarantee immediate deletion or the absence of all retention. See Anthropic’s model-training explanation, commercial retention policy and API retention conditions. Processing by Google in older versions is subject to the Gemini API terms. Do not submit photos containing people, personal or confidential information.

06Purchases and updates

App Store or Google Play processes payments; we do not receive card numbers. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app ID, purchase history and receipts or purchase tokens, and technical information such as device/OS information to manage purchases, restoration and access. We do not send meal photos or nutrition records to RevenueCat. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. Update checks send OS/app information and a random installation identifier to Expo (EAS Update), without meal records. See Expo’s Privacy Policy.

07Permissions and advertising

The camera takes still meal photos; photo selection uses the system picker. We do not record audio or save photos to your photo library. There is no advertising SDK, advertising tracking or sale of meal content. External processing for analysis, security, purchases and updates is described above.

08Deletion and contact

Delete saved meals in the app to remove their stored photo copies as well. Original images in your photo library are not deleted. Uninstalling can remove local app data. Withdrawing AI consent or uninstalling does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in the store. For questions, including information held by external services, use the contact form. You do not need to attach meal photos.

09Estimates and policy changes

Nutrition values are estimates from photos and may differ from measured values. Check and correct the amount before use. NutriShot is not a medical device or a tool for diagnosis or treatment. We update this page when handling changes and update in-app notices and consent for significant changes to transmitted information or its purpose.
