01Your location (used only on your device)

Ruga uses your location only to pick bus stops near you and to work out how long it takes to walk to your stop. This is calculated on your device. Your location is never sent to a server and is not saved. Ruga also works if you allow only approximate location.

If you do not allow location, you can still choose a stop yourself and use the app.

02How timetables are fetched

Departure times are fetched from Ruga’s timetable server, which we run on Google Cloud. These requests carry no information about you, such as your location or the stops you have chosen.

The timetable server does not record where requests come from, such as IP addresses. But because of how network connections work, your IP address may remain in the cloud provider’s (Google’s) logs for a certain period.

03What is saved on your device

Ruga saves the stop and direction you chose, your walking pace setting, and a temporary copy (cache) of the timetables it fetched. These are removed when you delete the app.

When there is no connection, Ruga shows the last saved timetable and clearly marks it as older data. In that case it does not recommend a bus as “you can make it comfortably.”

04Diagnostic information (crash logs)

To look into problems in the app, we may receive diagnostic information such as error details, the app version and the type of operating system, through Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). It does not include information that identifies you, your location, or the stops you chose. It is not used for advertising or tracking.

05Checking for app updates

To check whether an app update is available, a randomly generated install ID is sent to Expo (EAS Update, 650 Industries, Inc.).

06If you send a message from inside the app

If you send a message yourself from the inquiry screen inside the app, the information below is sent to our contact service (form.lh.tools). Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.

• The text of your message (it arrives exactly as you wrote it)
• The app version and build number
• The type and version of your operating system
• Your device model
• Your language setting
• Your contact details, only if you enter them (entering them is optional)

We use this only to respond to your inquiry. If you do not enter contact details, we cannot reply to you.

07Timetable sources, and a request

Departure times in the app are based on data for Keio Bus (Keio Dentetsu Bus Co., Ltd.) provided through the Public Transportation Open Data Center (ODPT). We use the data in line with the ODPT Basic License. You can see when the data was last fetched inside the app.

We do not guarantee that the timetables shown are accurate or complete. If you have a question about what the app shows, please contact Ruga support, not Keio Bus or other transport operators.

08Permissions

The only device permission the app uses is location, and only while you are using the app. It does not use background location, the camera, photos or contacts.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when needed. If we do, we will post the changes on this page.
